APPLICATION
Roadway Protection: The protection of highways and roads from
environmental disasters are facilitated with the use of ROBUST gabions
that stabilize the slopes protecting the shoulders which are susceptible
to erosion.
Retaining Walls: ROBUST gabions used as retaining walls are
functional, economical solution and a good alternative to other types of
retaining structures due to their flexibility and permeability.
Rock fall Protection: Rolls of ROBUST fabric with lacing, done
by joining together, are provided as a blanket to cover the surface of
the slopes to protect any infrastructure built on the foot of the slopes
against rockfall. ROBUST gabion constructed as retaining wall is an
alternative.
Bridges and Culverts Protection: Bridge abutments and culverts
are potentially at risk of scouring during heavy rains and strong flow
of water. ROBUST gabion boxes and mattresses can be used as abutments
and protective structure that aid the flow of water avoiding the danger
of erosion due to their good permeability characteristics.
Coastline Structure and Protection: ROBUST gabions and
mattresses are highly resistant to corrosion and other environmental
effects which are suitable for marine works, such as; retaining walls,
ramps, beach protection, small jetties, groins, and piers built at great
speed and minimum cost. The use of ROBUST gabions and mattresses
dissipate wave energy conserving beaches from being eroded.
Channel Lining: Channels are protected using ROBUST gabion and
mattress structures against erosion which control and guide the movement
of water naturally. Boundary or Security Fences: ROBUST units can be
used as fences which are cost effective compared to concrete fences.
ASSEMBLY AND INSTALLATION
1. ROBUST is laid and straightened on the ground for assembly.
2. ROBUST is arranged in order to form boxes and are connected/tied
using galvanized steel wire or PVC coated steel wire lacing.
3. ROBUST gabions/mattresses are filled with high density stones or
gravel. The size of the stones should be twice the size of the meshes or
4" to 8" and packed tightly at minimum void spaces as possible.
4. Internal bracings are provided @ 300 mm interval to prevent the
gabions from bulging and must grip two meshes. No bracings are required
for interior cells and for thinner gabions unless used for
exposed vertical surfaces. At extremities, the internal bracing is
installed 45 degree to the adjacent edges.
5. The series of ROBUST gabions/mattresses are securely interconnected
using selvedge wires tied with lacings @ 100 mm interval looping three
times. |
